CHARTERED HUMAN RESOURCES PRACTITIONER

Qualification

A qualification equivalent to a Postgraduate or Honours degree

Experience

More than 4 years of practicing HR at senior level required for this level of registration. Having practically applied authentic context in the period of experience.

Self-evaluation

A self-evaluation (using page 7 of the application forms) may also be completed to substantiate that the applicant meets the requirements for this registration level. Make sure that your evidence is valid, authentic, current (not more than five years old) and sufficient. Use the list of possible exit level outcomes below as a guide. For each competence claimed, evidence must be supplied (for example reports, minutes, work samples, applied strategy, testimonials, a job description).

HUMAN RESOURCES ASSOCIATE

Qualification

Grade 12 qualification (plus 2 years of further education)

Experience

At least two years of consistent HR experience is required for this level of registration. A self-evaluation may also be completed to substantiate that the applicant meets the requirements for this registration level. Make sure that your evidence is valid, authentic, current (not more than five years old) and sufficient. Use the list of possible exit level outcomes below as a guide. For each competence claimed, evidence must be supplied (for example reports, minutes, work samples, applied strategy, testimonials, a job description).

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

The Board strongly supports and encourages life-long learning and continued professional development. However, it is possible that your experience and level of functioning outweighs the academic level you have attained. Should you wish to apply for a higher level of registration than your academic qualification allows, you may submit an RPL certificate issued by a provider accredited by the Board (currently the Universities and Universities of Technology). The Board reserves the right to accept or not accept such an RPL certificate. The Board is also investigating alternate RPL procedures.

HUMAN RESOURCES TECHNICIAN

Qualification

Grade 12 (matriculation) qualification plus one year of study or a Human Resources Management Certificate accredited by the Board in a discipline or disciplines relevant to the field of human resources. Your CV accompanying this application must detail HR related experience gained and must reflect outcomes. Attach any supporting documentation related to outcomes that you may have (eg minutes, reports).

Experience

At least 1 year of HR related experience required for this level of registration. Having practically applied authentic context in the period of experience.

FULL TIME STUDENT

A non-professional registration, but an expression of interest by a full-time or part-time HR student in the activities of the Board.

No requirements are set, except proof of full-time student status. This gives the student access to the Institutes email Forum and other publications.

HR AFFILIATE

A non-professional registration, but an expression of interest in HR for those in smaller companies and line management who must fulfil HR functions, amongst others

No requirements are set and registration is open to all. Affiliate registration gives the opportunity to benefit from the Institute’s email forum with its registered participants, to network, ask questions and follow discussions.

Newsletters, annual reports and invitations to the Institute’s annual HR Review are part of the package.
